Fiber + Strand brings luxury salon experience to Fort Industry Square
Situated perfectly in the middle of one of downtown’s oldest and most recognizable blocks is a brand new hair salon. Fiber + Strand opened its doors at Fort Industry Square on Tuesday, November 15, just a few months after the build out began. With 24 years of experience in the industry, owner Janelle Jared had a vision for creating a beautiful space to do beautiful work. Jared tapped S&E Designs of Maumee to do the design work of the space, which includes an open concept, exposed brick walls and great natural light from windows facing Summit Street and the Maumee River.
Fiber + Strand specializes in color, extensions and bridal. They have recently launched a private bridal experience on Saturdays. With the salon typically being closed on Saturdays, bridal parties will be the only customers in the salon and will have catering provided while their hair is being styled and makeup is being done.
In addition to the services listed above, Fiber + Strand also offers makeup application. All customers wishing to patronize Fiber + Strand must make an appointment in advance. Virtual consultations are also available. The opening of this salon has created five new jobs, including three stylists, one makeup artist and one support staff member. They continue to interview for all positions in hopes of expanding their staff. Their hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 9:00 pm.
Fort Industry Square is a collection of historic buildings located on Summit Street between Monroe Street and Jefferson Avenue. Combined, they are 144,000 square feet which have been used for offices, retail space, restaurants and apartments while overlooking the Maumee River. The collection of buildings gets its name from a stockade fort built around 1800. The fort depiction shown on the City of Toledo’s seal and flag displays the stockade complex built around 1800. It was used on July 4, 1805, for the signing of the Treaty of Fort Industry which opened the Firelands area for settlement.
